SAS Nagar, June 30- Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former MP Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra has said that the 'land pooling policy' formulated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government will turn the state of Punjab, famous for its greenery and prosperity, into a city of stones and marble.
In a statement issued here, he said that this government scheme is a conspiracy to settle a large number of people from other states by building high-rise buildings and colonies on the fertile land of Punjab. Prof Chandumajra said that a network of unnecessary roads is being laid in Punjab, which is rendering a large number of farmers of the state landless. He said that the situation is such that the owners themselves cannot drive on the roads built on their village lands and can only see big vehicles going by.
He said that the slight increase in the prices of land in the name of building roads and highways is leading to the desolation of Punjab. Prof Chandumajra said that the intention to acquire the land of villages situated around cities like Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala and Ludhiana through the new land acquisition policy will lead to the ruin of the state.
He also called this policy dangerous for the environment, due to which lakhs of trees of Punjab will also be cut down.
