Nawanshahr/Raho- National Labour Organization (NLO) convenor Baldev Bharti State Awardee has demanded that 10% more wages should be given for working at a distance of more than 5 km under MNREGA.
He said that workers are legally entitled to 10% more wages for working at a distance of more than 5 km and he wants to implement this legal right practically in the entire state.
He said that workers working at a distance of more than 5 km from their village leave home early in the morning on foot and return late. They spend Rs 30-40 per ride from their pocket to go to work and many times due to non-receipt of cash wages, wages of many workers are also lost. At present, the daily wage of MNREGA is Rs 346.
But despite the legal provision of giving 10 percent more wages for working at a distance of more than 5 kilometers under MNREGA, they are not being given proper additional wages.
