Hoshiarpur- Programmes were organised in Government College under 'World Population Day' and 'International Literacy Week' campaign with the cooperation of Principal of the college Gurmeet Singh ji, Vice-Principal and Red Ribbon Club in-charge Prof. Vijay Kumar. Prof. Vijay Kumar expressed concern over the increasing population on the occasion of World Population Day.
He said that the current situation of the world and the destruction of the earth is due to the population. Therefore, we all have to cooperate in stopping the increasing population. Rising above feelings like religion, discrimination between boys and girls, casteism, witchcraft, humans will have to cooperate in population control, only then we can be successful in celebrating this day.
Prof. Vijay Kumar, while celebrating 'International Literacy Week', presented his views in front of the students, their parents and the college staff and said that we all have to inspire poor children to get education. There is a need to convey the message to them that the government is giving full support in providing education to every poor child. It is itself making arrangements for their fees, food and books. It is our duty to make the illiterate aware of education.
If someone becomes educated then there will be no discrimination of any kind in the society, which is very much needed in today's time. At this time Prof. Vijay Kumar, Prof. Harjinder Pal, Prof. Suraj Kumar, Prof. Mohit Mohan, Prof. Sophia Gill, Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Prof. Monica Kanwar and a large number of students were also present. On this occasion, awareness was also spread through posters according to the topic.
