
DC and SSP Monitors the Mock Drill Conducted at Bestech Mall Mohali
SAS Naagr, May 7: To check Civil Defence preparedness measures at Mohali, a comprehensive mock drill focused on fire safety and rescue operations was held at Bestech Mall, here today to bolster preparedness for potential emergencies. The exercise aimed to equip the public and authorities with the skills to handle crises effectively.

The exercise aimed to equip the public and authorities with the skills to handle crises effectively.
The drill commenced at 4 PM with receiving information of potential air raids, prompting swift coordination among multiple agencies, including the local Police, Central Industrial Security Force, fire brigade, district administration, Health Department, Punjab Home Guards, NSS of local educational institutions. Organized by the district administration in collaboration with defense authorities, the exercise simulated a real-time emergency response.
An incident command post was promptly established within the Mall, where nodal officers from participating departments convened. All the public stranded in the Mall safely were taken to the second basement considering it as a safest place to protect them by the use of downstairs. The Civil Defense officers and CISF conducted demonstrations on disaster management techniques, while other teams showcased methods for rescuing and treating individuals during emergencies, emphasizing life-saving protocols.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal emphasized that today's drill was designed to raise public awareness and ensure readiness for any district-wide emergency. She urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that such exercises are proactive measures to enhance safety and preparedness.
She said that such types of exercises enhance our preparedness of dealing with exigency. She said that all the stakeholders delivered their duties in a well planned manner.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that there are no apprehensions of any untoward situation in the district but we are keeping a close eye on hoardings and nuisance elements. *She said that the Air Space in the district has been closed till further orders as per the directions.*
Senior Superintendent of Police, Deepak Pareek while briefing about the exercise, said that district police are fully geared up to cope up with such emergency situations with the help of other departments. He warned the rumour mongers to create any panic environment in the district and said that the people should trust only the information from official sources.
ADC Sonam Chaudhary, SDM Damandeep Kaur, SP Ramandeep Singh, DSPs Harsimran Singh Bal and Naveen Pal, District Revenue Officer Amandeep Chawla and others were also present on the occasion.
