Chandigarh- The House Meeting of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh held today under the leadership of Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla was very noisy. Councillors belonging to Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) surrounded the BJP on the issue of property tax and raised slogans against the BJP inside the meeting hall while showing placards against the BJP.
First, tributes were paid to the innocent people killed in the Pahalgam attack. After some time, as soon as Mayor Babla assured that the administrator would provide funds of Rs 238 crore very soon, the BJP councillors started distributing sweets happily.
On the other hand, Congress and AAP councillors refused to take sweets and started raising slogans against the BJP on this issue of sweets as well.
The opposition councillors said that the BJP was distributing sweets after paying homage to the dead of the Pahalgam incident. The councillors of both the parties boycotted the meeting raising slogans of ‘Bhajpaio, shame on you’. Following the boycott by the councillors of both the parties, Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla continued the proceedings of the meeting with the BJP councillors.
