New Delhi, May 26 - The family of Col. Sophia Qureshi, who leads Indian press conferences on Operation Sindoor, today joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi's roadshow in Vadodara (Gujarat). Qureshi, who hails from a family with military roots, joined the Indian Army in 1999. In 2016, she became the first woman officer to lead a multinational military exercise.
Sophia Qureshi's sister and other family members queued up on the streets of Vadodara to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. Posters praising the Indian Army for Operation Sindoor were displayed in the background. It was India's national response to the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians were killed.
Colonel Sophia Qureshi's brother Sanjay Qureshi said, "A large number of people have joined today's roadshow, which is very wonderful. I am happy that people have come here to celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor, just like we are here. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also here, he congratulated us and we welcomed him. We are very happy and excited." Colonel Qureshi's sister Shaina Sunesra said that she was there at Prime Minister Modi's roadshow to celebrate Operation Sindoor. Sunesra said, "The outreach about the operation was led by two women, one of whom was my sister and they completed it successfully without any loss of life. There was no fear in the country during the operation. It was a different feeling to see Prime Minister Modi." Several African students were also standing in line at the roadshow.
