Nawanshahr- A mass movement will be organized to complete the 'war on drugs' campaign launched by the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. This disclosure was made by Nasha Mukti Morcha Doaba Zone Coordinator Nayan Chhabra along with District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Coordinator Sethi Udhanwal while talking to the media here today. He said that since the last two decades, the Punjab government has taken a big step by tightening the lid on drugs that are killing the youth of Punjab from all sides.
He said that the Punjab government has planned for three years to control the demon of drugs and now a strict message has been given to the drug traffickers that they either leave Punjab or leave the drug business. He said that the police has done a commendable job in curbing the retail sale of drugs and now big dealers are being caught.
He said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Police has done commendable work against drugs and since March till now 287 cases have been registered and 242 people have been arrested and property worth crores has been attached. He said that by dividing Punjab into five zones, a big campaign is being conducted from May 1 to make people aware by going door to door in villages, towns and cities, and people's cooperation will be taken to make it successful.
He said that the beginning of this campaign in the district is being organized on 4th April 2025 Sunday in Nawanshahr by organizing a district level grand program of village defense committees. He thanked Aam Aadmi Party National Coordinator Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Chairman and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora and said that the team formed by them will make the war against drugs a success with the cooperation of the people and make the state a colorful Punjab again.
He said that Sethi Udhanwal, District Coordinator of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, who is also the Chairman of Market Committee Balachaur, has been appointed to take Nasha Mukti Morcha to the ground level. Similarly, Baldev Raj has been appointed as coordinator for Balachaur constituency, Prabhjot Singh for Banga constituency and Vaneet Singh Jadla for Navanshahr constituency.
