
War on Drugs: Drug smuggler’s illegal encroachment on panchayat land demolished in Amala village of Derabassi
Dera Bassi (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), April 28: Continuing its strict action against drug smugglers under the ‘War on Drugs’ launched to eradicate drugs from the state, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Police, in collaboration with the District Administration, today demolished the illegal construction of a bigha by notorious drug smuggler Salim Khan in Amala village of Derabassi. This action was taken on the orders of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Deepak Pareek.
Dera Bassi (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), April 28: Continuing its strict action against drug smugglers under the ‘War on Drugs’ launched to eradicate drugs from the state, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Police, in collaboration with the District Administration, today demolished the illegal construction of a bigha by notorious drug smuggler Salim Khan in Amala village of Derabassi. This action was taken on the orders of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Deepak Pareek.
The demolished construction was illegally constructed on panchayat land. Four criminal cases were registered against Salim Khan in Punjab and Haryana under the Indian Penal Code and the NDPS Act.
According to SSP Deepak Pareek, this strict action taken by the district police is a clear message that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has adopted zero tolerance towards drug smuggling.
He said that the last case against this smuggler was registered on April 20 under the NDPS Act at Derabassi police station, under which the said accused was arrested after his involvement in smuggling 7 kg of ganja came to light.
DSP Derabassi Bikramjit Singh Brar and DSP Zirakpur Jaswinder Singh Gill, who are leading this operation, said that it is a part of the decisive battle launched by the Punjab government against drugs, by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav to eliminate drug peddlers from the state by May 31.
SSP Deepak Pareek warned the drug peddlers to stop their illegal activities or be ready to face such actions. He reiterated that the state government is committed to eradicate drugs and no one involved in this illegal business will be spared.
The villagers appreciated this action taken by the district police and the concerted efforts of the Punjab government to stop drug trafficking. The villagers also thanked the district administration for taking action against drug peddlers.
SSP Deepak Pareek appealed to the people to immediately inform the nearest police station if they receive any information about drug smugglers.
