Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, March 2, 2025: During the two-day horse riding festival organized by the District Administration on the initiative of the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department at Karora village of the district, the District De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center gave the message of staying away from drugs.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary said that this awareness stall, raised on the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal, aims to make the general public aware of the strict campaign launched against drug traffickers under the recent campaign of the Punjab Government, 'War against Drugs', and the provision made to provide treatment to the victims.
He said that under the aegis of the District De-addiction and Rehabilitation Society, the District De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center is being run in Sector 66, Mohali under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, where apart from providing OPD services related to the OAT center, there is also a facility to provide indoor treatment. He said that free medicines are provided to the patients admitted in this center for de-addiction as well as free food. Apart from providing counseling services to the patients, yoga is also conducted to strengthen their will power to stay away from social evils.
He said that in the coming days, arrangements will be made to teach skill courses to the victims undergoing treatment in this center as per their wish, so that after completion of treatment, they can acquire skills and become financially strong.
He appealed that if any member of any family shows signs of addiction, then they should contact this center and take the services of psychiatrists and reconnect him to a happy life so that a healthy society can be created by eliminating addiction.
