Nawanshahr, January 7- Today, a virtual meeting of Government Teachers Association Block Aud was held under the chairmanship of District President Bikramjit Singh. In which the desi ghee halwa included in the mid-day meal by the department was discussed. Speaking on this occasion, District General Secretary of Government Teachers Association Gurdish Singh said that giving desi ghee halwa to the children, that too from the existing cooking cost, is an arbitrary order of the department. Which is very difficult to fulfill.
The rate of desi ghee is more than Rs 550 and sugar, semolina and some fruits also have to be added to it which are very expensive. More than one kg of ghee is consumed for every 100 children. Along with this, food also has to be given. In some schools, children of both LKG and UKG classes, for whom no money is received, also eat food. Due to which the expenditure increases even more. Apart from this, rice and kheer have been asked to be given at the same time on Tuesday, which is not logical.
The teachers said that the department should issue a separate grant for desi ghee halwa. Expressing his views on this occasion, former general secretary of Government Teachers Association Punjab Kuldeep Singh Dharka said that the current Aam Aadmi Party government is rapidly implementing the New Education Policy 2020 and is very eager to reduce the size of the department. Under which the government wants to close middle schools and also wants to reduce the number of other schools by half.
The office staff, mid-day meal office staff, teachers of special children and many other teachers are constantly struggling. The government is not listening to the teacher class. The Government Teachers Association always stands with the struggling teachers. This government is completely working against the interests of the teachers. The teacher class strongly opposes this and will never allow the anti-people steps of the government to be completed.
The Aam Aadmi Party came to power in Punjab on the promises it made, now it is reneging on those promises. The teachers' community will wage a fierce struggle against this. Speaking on the occasion, GTU District President Bikramjit Singh said that in the coming times, the government will have to face the fierce anger of teachers, whether it is the issue of restoring the old pension or regularizing temporary employees or closing down schools.
Among others, Manjinderjit Singh, Harjeet Singh, Akul Garg, Raj Kumar, Manmohan Singh Chaddha, Resham Lal, Iqbal Singh, Usha Rani, Vinita Rani, Jeet Kumari, Lakshik, Jaswinder Kaur, Jasvir Kaur, Ramandeep Kaur Bajwa, Neeru Thapar, Ambika Joshi, Rishu, etc were present on the occasion.
