
Stubble burning cases reduced by 72 percent compared to last year: Preeti Yadav
Patiala, January 1 - In Patiala district, there has been a 72 percent reduction in the number of incidents of stubble burning in the year 2024 compared to the previous year. This claim was made by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav today, on the occasion of the arrival of the New Year, while honoring 26 nodal officers and 46 cluster officers of various departments who played an important role in preventing paddy stubble burning in the district in the past year by distributing appreciation letters to them.
Patiala, January 1 - In Patiala district, there has been a 72 percent reduction in the number of incidents of stubble burning in the year 2024 compared to the previous year. This claim was made by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav today, on the occasion of the arrival of the New Year, while honoring 26 nodal officers and 46 cluster officers of various departments who played an important role in preventing paddy stubble burning in the district in the past year by distributing appreciation letters to them.
He said that in the year 2023, 1870 cases of stubble burning in the fields were reported in the district. Whereas in the year 2024, only 525 of these cases have been registered, which is 72 percent less. Dr. Preeti Yadav said that the nodal officers and cluster officers have not only saved the environment of Patiala district but have also helped the farmers by working with dedication and determination.
He said that he hopes that next time there will be no case of burning of paddy stubble in the district and all the farmers will manage the stubble in situ and ex-situ methods while taking care of their land and environment. On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Isha Singla, Environmental Engineer of Punjab Pollution Control Board Gurkaran Singh, SDO Mohit Singla and nodal and cluster officers of various departments were present.
