Patiala, December 20- Taking strong cognizance of the incident that took place at the Mini Secretariat here on the last day of filing nominations for the Municipal Corporation elections in Patiala, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered to register an FIR against the four police personnel in whose presence the nomination file of a female candidate was snatched. The court said that a case should be registered against the four police personnel in their name.
The hearing was going on in the High Court for two days regarding the irregularities during the nomination for the Patiala Municipal Corporation elections. As soon as the petitioner showed some videos in the court, it came to light that some people snatched the nomination paper from a woman in the presence of the police and ran away. The court ordered that a case be filed against these four police personnel within 15 minutes. The court said that videos should be called from all the ROs, so that this matter can be investigated.
He said that leniency cannot be shown in such cases. On the last day (December 12) of filing nominations for the Municipal Corporation, a large number of people had arrived. There was only one gate for entry. During this time some people came and snatched files from the people standing in the queue and ran away. BJP and Congress took this matter seriously. They also complained to the Governor of Punjab and the Election Commission in this matter. At that time, the Aam Aadmi Party shrugged it off by saying that this whole matter was politically motivated.
