Red Cross Addiction Detoxification Center Nawanshahr organized a seminar on the martyrdom day of Sardar Udham Singh Sunam.

Nawanshahr- This seminar was presided over by Shi Chaman Singh (Project Director). While addressing, he said that Sardar Udham Singh Sunam Ji was born on 26 December 1899 in Sunam village of Sangrur, Punjab. His parents died in his childhood. Due to which he and his brother were admitted to the orphanage in Amritsar. In 1917-18, Udham Singh passed his tenth standard. After a short while, his brother also died.

Udham Singh was very much influenced by the activities of the Ghadar Party and then he joined the Ghadar Party. He himself had witnessed the Jallianwala Bagh massacre with his own eyes on 13 April 1919, the day of Baisakhi, and after seeing the bloody scene of that day, he vowed that he would kill the culprit of this incident in his house and avenge the death of unarmed people. This dream of his was fulfilled on 13 March 1940.
While paying homage to Shaheed Udham Singh, he said that we should read about the life struggle of S. Udham Singh and other revolutionary warriors. We should follow the guidance given by them. The youth should adopt the thinking of the martyred warriors. We should contribute our due contribution to eliminate drugs from Punjab. So that we can save the coming generation.
On this occasion, representatives of Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab State Branch Chandigarh, Mrs. Shaina Verma (SSTS), Mr. Kulwinder Singh (Field Officer), Mr. Pankaj Rai (Senior Assistant), Jaswinder Kaur, Kamaljit Kaur, Manjit Singh, Parveen Kumari, Dinesh Kumar, Kulwant Singh, Parvesh Kumar, and the patient were present.
