Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, November 29: Under the guidance of Higher Education and Languages ??Minister Sardar Harjot Singh Bains; District Language Office, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar in collaboration with Punjab Sahitya Akademi, Chandigarh, organized a discussion on the book "Hindi Se Punjabi Seekhen" by eminent scholar and poet Harvinder Singh today.
Eminent poet and Director of Language Department, Punjab, Jaswant Singh Zafar attended the event as the chief guest. Eminent critic, novelist Dr. Manmohan, translator and scholar Jang Bahadur Goyal, eminent critic Dr. Praveen Kumar participated in the presidium. The event began with the departmental tune 'Dhanu Lekhari Nanaka'. Later, District Language Officer Dr. Darshan Kaur welcomed the guests and listeners and informed the audience about the purpose of the discussion.
In the next phase of the event, author Harvinder Singh Chandigarh spoke about the book and shared his experiences and the objectives he had in mind when writing the book. After this, the first speaker, eminent scholar and author Pritam Rupal, said in his speech that the author has written this book by understanding Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabi nature, hence this book is important. He raised several points about the pronunciation of the language.
After this, while speaking about the book under discussion, eminent scholar Prof. Gurmeet Singh from the Department of Hindi, Panjab University, Chandigarh, spoke in detail and raised questions on several words and asked the author to be clear on several things.
Speaking from the audience, Prof. Attai Singh told about the importance of dialects.
From the presidium, critic Dr. Praveen Kumar considered the book a commendable step. But adding further, he said that the cultural transformation of the language should be taken into account. Jang Bahadur Goyal called the book the first stage of learning, he further said that this book is a guide like a ‘lighthouse’.
The chief guest of the event, Director of the Language Department, Jaswant Singh Zafar, described today's event as meaningful and described such writing as a real service to the mother tongue Punjabi. He also shed light on the importance of the mother tongue.
In his presidential address, Dr. Manmohan, while presenting his views, said that today's event has become important on the occasion of Punjabi Month. Speaking about the book, he said that there is a difference between translation and teaching; the author should take some care of this. He further said that the book is a good effort and it is hoped that the author will bring the next book with more effort. The stage was moderated by author Jagdeep Sidhu.
Eminent poets, story writers Gul Chauhan, Sirmaur story writer Balijit, poet Gurpreet Saini, poet Dr. Surinder Gill, Sushil Kaur, Bhupinder Malik, Jagbir Kaur, Harbhajan Kaur Dhillon, Dhian Singh Kahlon, playwrights Sanjeevan Singh and Baldev Singh etc. participated in this event. On this occasion, a book exhibition was also organized by the District Language Office, Mohali.
