
Awareness seminar organized for special juvenile unit and teachers under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme
Hoshiarpur- As per the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner and under the leadership of District Program Officer Hardeep Kaur, an awareness seminar was organized on 25th and 26th November at Pandit Jagat Ram Government Polytechnic College, Hoshiarpur. This seminar was organized for the special child unit, government elementary and secondary teachers of the district.

This seminar was organized for the special child unit, government elementary and secondary teachers of the district.
During this, detailed information was given about Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme, POCSO Act, Good Touch-Bad Touch, Sponsorship Fund Scheme, Mission Vatsalya, Mission Shakti, Balanced Diet and Sakhi One Stop Center. The aim of this was to make maximum people aware of the benefits of these schemes so that the needy people can avail them.
On this occasion, DSP Crime Against Women and Child Balwinder Singh Jaura told about the services being provided by the police department for women and children in the district and the efforts being taken to reduce the crime rate under Mission Hoshiar.
District Child Protection Officer Dr. Harpreet Kaur discussed the rights of children and sensitive issues related to them. She told about laws like Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act, Child Marriage Prevention Act and Free Legal Aid. She said that needy children can get help by going to the police station, Child Helpline or directly to their office. Child Development Project Officer Hoshiarpur-2 Daya Rani gave detailed information about Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme.
She said that the department is running an awareness campaign in every village to prevent heinous crimes like feticide and improve the sex ratio. Aarti Sharma from Sakhi One Stop Centre shed light on the Domestic Violence Act and women's rights. She said that the One Stop Centre provides facilities like medical aid, free legal aid, counselling services and shelter to women. Seema Sharma from Intermediate Level Training Centre, while explaining the importance of nutrition and balanced diet, stressed on the importance of proper diet in the treatment of anemia.
Block Mission Manager Mahendra Singh Rana informed the teachers about the schemes being run for poor children between the ages of 18 to 35 under the Punjab Skill Development Mission such as Vishwakarma Yojana and Deen Dayal Yojana.
