Dubai, June 14 - A massive fire broke out in a 67-storey building in Marina here, the Dubai Media Office (DMO) said on Saturday. All 3,820 residents of the 764 apartments of Marina Pinnacle were evacuated safely after the fire broke out late Friday night.
According to a report in the ‘Khaliq Times’ newspaper, Dubai Civil Defence teams put out the fire after six hours of tireless work. The DMO said that authorities are working with the building’s developer to arrange temporary accommodation for the affected residents and their safety and well-being are being given top priority.
The DMO said in a post on X X at 1.44am on Saturday: “Special teams successfully evacuated all residents from the 67-storey building, with their health and safety being the priority throughout the operation. Efforts are on to completely control the fire.”
The DMO followed this up at 2.09am by saying, “Ambulance teams and medical staff are on the scene to provide full medical and psychological support to the safely evacuated residents.”
The DMO later noted at 2.21am that special units safely evacuated all 3,820 residents from 764 apartments at Marina Pinnacle without any injuries.
This is not the first time that Marina Pinnacle – also known as Tiger Tower – has caught fire. The Khaleej Times said that in May 2015, a kitchen incident sparked a fire on the 47th floor, which spread to the 48th floor before being contained by Dubai Civil Defence.
