Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 14 November 2024: Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Gurmail Singh appealed to the farmers to use fertilizers as per their requirement and as per the recommendations of Punjab Agricultural University, saying that unnecessary use of fertilizers has an adverse effect on the fertility of the land.
He also asked to use DAP only as per the quantity advised by the experts and said that NPK and other fertilizers can be used as an alternative to phosphorus. He said that farmers should sow wheat using fertilizers that are alternatives to DAP at the time of sowing. He said that the use of fertilizers can also be reduced by ploughing the crop residues into the land.
He said that checking is also being done at various places by the teams formed by the Agriculture Department. So that no fertilizer seller gives any other unnecessary fertilizers/medicines to the farmers along with DAP fertilizer or other fertilizers. He said that phosphorus is a nutrient required for wheat cultivation. To meet this, farmers use DAP fertilizer at the time of sowing. He said that Kisan fertilizer and triple super phosphate fertilizer, single super phosphate and other phosphatic fertilizers can also be used as an alternative to DAP fertilizer.
Apart from this, other phosphatic fertilizers available in the market can also be used. He instructed the dealers of the district to keep their licenses and other necessary documents complete. And no negligence should be done in this and the daily stock and rate of fertilizer should be written on the stock board.
He said that whatever agricultural material is sold to the farmers by the dealers. A fixed bill should be cut and only the required agricultural material should be sold to the farmers. And no other unnecessary goods should be given to the farmers. He said that during checking, if any shopkeeper is found selling fertilizer, medicine or seeds without a bill, then appropriate legal action will be taken against him.
