Punjab government is working strongly to stop child marriage - Karamjit Kaur

Hoshiarpur- The Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is working strongly to free the state from the social evil of child marriage. District Planning Committee Hoshiarpur Chairperson Karamjit Kaur has thanked the Punjab Government for the efforts being made in this direction. She said that it has been possible to stop inhuman practices like child marriage across the state only due to the alertness and effective strategies of the government.

Hoshiarpur- The Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is working strongly to free the state from the social evil of child marriage. District Planning Committee Hoshiarpur Chairperson Karamjit Kaur has thanked the Punjab Government for the efforts being made in this direction. She said that it has been possible to stop inhuman practices like child marriage across the state only due to the alertness and effective strategies of the government.
District Planning Committee Chairperson Karamjit Kaur said that under the leadership of Social Security and Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, the department stopped 42 child marriages on time from January 2024 to December 2024. Along with this, by taking immediate action in 16 more cases between January 2025 and March 2025, children were saved from getting tied in the bondage of untimely marriage. Thus, a total of 58 child marriages have been successfully stopped in the last 15 months.
Chairperson Karamjit Kaur termed it as a proof of Punjab Government's commitment towards social concerns. She said that this achievement has been possible not only through administrative efforts but also through social awareness campaigns and active participation of local people.
She also expressed her commitment to strengthen this campaign at the district level and said that with the cooperation of district administration, Anganwadi workers, schools and panchayats, it is our priority to make the society aware and provide a safe and educated future to every child.
Karamjit Kaur thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur and said that this commendable initiative of the government is proving to be a milestone towards positive change in the society.
