
The District Child Protection Unit launched a campaign to prevent child begging and child labour
Nawanshahr - According to the guidelines issued by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman and Director Social Security and Women and Child Development Department, Punjab, a campaign has been launched to stop child begging and child labor in district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. Under this, checking was done by the sub-divisional level committee under the leadership of District Child Protection Officer Kanchan Arora to prevent child begging and child labor at different places of Balachore block.

Under this, checking was done by the sub-divisional level committee under the leadership of District Child Protection Officer Kanchan Arora to prevent child begging and child labor at different places of Balachore block.
Meanwhile, checking was done in Main Road, Garhshankar Road, Bus Stand Road, Kangana Bridge, Bhadi Road and Main Bazaar of Balachore Block and no child was found involved in child labor and child begging by the team. It was told by the team that during the continuous checking in different blocks of the district, no child was found begging or doing labour. District Child Protection Officer Kanchan Arora, who was present on this occasion, said that according to the orders of the Director Social Security and Women and Child Development Department, checks regarding child labor and child begging are being done continuously throughout Punjab. So that the immigrants from other states can be prevented from begging in Punjab and the future of children engaged in begging can be brightened by connecting them with education.
The District Child Protection Officer appealed to the general public that if any child below the age of 18 is seen begging, then the information should be given to the District Child Protection Unit or Child Helpline number 1098. Child Protection Officer Gaurav Sharma, who was present on the occasion, said that under the Juvenile Justice Act, a person who begs from children between the ages of zero and 18 years can be punished with imprisonment of up to two years and a fine of Rs. 1 lakh.
Gaurav Sharma Child Protection Officer from District Child Protection Unit, Kanta Outreach Worker, Supervisor from CDPO Blachore Office, Harvinder Singh Labor Inspector along with representatives of Police Department, Education Department and Health Department were also present in the checking team.
