
Accused of killing wife for dowry arrested
SAS Nagar, June 7 – Mohali Police has arrested a person named Nizamuddin on the charge of killing his wife for not bringing dowry. Giving information in this regard, DSP City 2 Mr. Harsimran Singh Bal said that in this regard, the girl’s father Mune, a resident of village Naglia, district Rampur (UP), had filed a complaint in police station Sohana that his daughter Mehnaz was married to Nizamuddin, a resident of village Naglia, district Rampur, UP (currently a resident of village Lakhnaur, Sector 76) about 4 years ago.

Giving information in this regard, DSP City 2 Mr. Harsimran Singh Bal said that in this regard, the girl’s father Mune, a resident of village Naglia, district Rampur (UP), had filed a complaint in police station Sohana that his daughter Mehnaz was married to Nizamuddin, a resident of village Naglia, district Rampur, UP (currently a resident of village Lakhnaur, Sector 76) about 4 years ago.
According to the complainant, Nizamuddin runs a dhaba named Shama on Lakhnaur-Ladran Road, village Lakhnaur and he used to force his daughter Mehnaz to bring dowry and beat her.
According to the complainant, Nizamuddin had also called him and demanded Rs 10 lakh from him and said that if he did not give him the money, he would kill his daughter Mehnaz. He said that on May 2, Nizamuddin called the complainant Mune and said that your daughter has died and then he had left the body of Mune's daughter in Mune's house (UP) and fled.
He said that the postmortem of the deceased Mehnaz was conducted by the Azamnagar police station, Rampur district, UP and since the case was of Mohali district, Punjab, the UP police transferred the case to Mohali district, Punjab.
He said that a case was registered in this regard at Sohana police station under section 80 of the BNS and the accused was being searched. He said that the police have arrested the accused Nizamuddin from Sant Majra Dhaba today.
The accused was produced before the Honorable Court, to whom the Honorable Judge has ordered 4 days police remand. Investigation regarding the case is ongoing.
