New Delhi, September 3 - Parliamentarian Sanjay Singh welcomed Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's alleged statement about the alliance for the Haryana elections, saying that the party's Haryana in-charge has informed AAP's national convener Arvind Kejriwal. After doing this will take a final decision. Sanjay Singh said that we welcome it, our priority is to defeat BJP, our Haryana in-charges Sandeep Pathak and Sushil Gupta will discuss it and take a final decision and inform Arvind Kejriwal about it and a decision will be taken accordingly.
According to sources, Rahul sought the opinion of Haryana Congress leaders on the possibility of an alliance with AAP for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections during the party's selection committee meeting in the national capital on Monday.
However, Arvind Kejriwal had earlier said that his party will contest on its own level in all 90 seats of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha.
Reacting to Rahul Gandhi's statement, former Haryana Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that he could give only three to four seats to AAP, which was demanding more and thus, sources said. Making alliances is difficult.
Sources claimed that Hooda will be nominated from Garhi Sampla Kiloi constituency, while state president Udaibhan may be nominated from Hodal constituency. During the meeting, the party did not discuss the possible candidature of Vinesh Phogat and Rajya Sabha members Kumari Selja and Randeep Surjewala.
In the CEC meeting, the Congress discussed the candidates for all 90 seats in the state and the names were finalized for 49 seats. However, they are yet to finalize the names of the candidates for the remaining 41 seats.
