Makar Sankranti festival was organized in the Sanskrit Department of Punjab University, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, January 14, 2025- Today, Makar Sankranti festival was organized in the Sanskrit Department of Punjab University, Chandigarh. On this occasion, Dr. Pushpendra Joshi from Sanskrit Department, Punjabi University, Patiala was present as the keynote speaker. Congratulating the Makar Sankranti festival, he said that on this day the Sun moves towards the Tropic of Capricorn.

Chandigarh, January 14, 2025- Today, Makar Sankranti festival was organized in the Sanskrit Department of Punjab University, Chandigarh. On this occasion, Dr. Pushpendra Joshi from Sanskrit Department, Punjabi University, Patiala was present as the keynote speaker. Congratulating the Makar Sankranti festival, he said that on this day the Sun moves towards the Tropic of Capricorn. 
While discussing the five parts of the Panchang, Tithi, War, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karan, he also discussed in detail about the book Lilavati written by Acharya Bhaskar. Along with this, while discussing the research methodology for the research students present, he said that in fact, first of all while doing research work, we should see whether we are interested in that subject? Are we eligible to study it? If you do comparative study, then you must have knowledge of both the subjects in which you are comparing. 
On this occasion, he also expressed his views on the tax law written by Chanakya in Arthashastra. While discussing figures of speech in poetics, he expressed his views on Kuvalayanand of Apyadikshit and Alankarsarvasva Granth of Ruyyak. On this occasion, he gave detailed information about the immense possibilities of doing research work on manuscript science. Along with this, he discussed with the students about Gurumukhi script, Devanagari script and Sharada script.
Department Head Prof. V.K. Alankar ji said that this festival of Makar Sankranti is celebrated with great joy throughout the country and it is known by different names in the whole country. Expressing the opinion of Bhartrihari, he said that time is eternal. Along with this, he thanked the visiting chief guest and other teachers, students and research scholars present from Dayanand Vedic Studies Peeth. On this occasion, Prof. Sushma Alankar ji from DAV College 10 was also present. Sanskrit department teachers Dr. Vikram and Dr. Vijay Bhardwaj were also present.
