He said that Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann has been engaged for the last 3 years to fulfill the promise made by the Punjab government to the people of Punjab to eliminate drugs from Punjab and now a campaign is being run on a war footing against drugs in the entire Punjab, so that drugs can be completely eradicated from Punjab.
This Nasha Udyanad Yatra is not a political journey, it is a social concept. He said that it is the duty of every person in the society to eliminate drugs from the society. I appeal to every section, every Panchayat, every youth, every parent to eradicate drug abuse from its roots. Join this movement. This fight to make Punjab drug-free is the fight of all of us. The police alone cannot win this battle. You are the real soldiers who can save the children of your village from this disease of drug addiction.
Addressing the people present, he said that the time is not far when drugs will not be sold in Punjab and no drug smuggler will dare to enter the villages, but for this your cooperation is needed. Therefore, if there is someone around you who sells drugs, then information about him should be given to the MLA or the nearest police station. On this occasion, an oath was taken that we will neither consume drugs nor allow others to do so. We will neither sell drugs nor give protection to drug dealers. Together we will make Punjab bright, safe and drug-free again.
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the government has taken several steps to deal with the problem of drug abuse, including starting a helpline number 9779100200 to provide information related to drug abuse, on which any person can give information related to drug trafficking. His name will be kept confidential. Helpline numbers have been prominently displayed through posters in villages and these will be expanded to other areas as well.
