Ludhiana - The bill brought by the Punjab government on the last day of the Legislative Assembly session regarding the Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission is being strongly condemned by various organizations related to the Dalit community. According to which the core committee member of Sri Guru Ravidas Federation Punjab, Dr. Rupinder Singh Sudhar and Hardev Singh Boparai, National President, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar International Organization, said that Punjab is a state in which the number of SC community is around 40%.
The Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission has been formed to provide justice to the people of the SC category and for their welfare. When there is any abuse or bullying of a person belonging to the SC category and the administration does not fulfill its responsibility properly, then the SC Commission works to bring justice to them. On this occasion, Dr. Rupinder Singh Sudhar and Hardev Singh Boparai said that earlier a chairman and 10 members were appointed in this commission and it had a term of six years. However, the Punjab government has reduced the number of commission members to 5 out of those 10 members and the term has also been made three years.
With which the SC society has received a big blow. Due to which many persons belonging to the SC category will be deprived of justice. He said that many atrocities are being committed on Dalits on a daily basis. Looking at that, the Punjab government should increase the number of members instead of reducing them. He said that weakening the SC Commission means weakening the SC community. He said that he appeals to the Punjab government to reconsider the amendment bill of the SC Commission And the number of members should be 10 as before and its term should be kept only for six years so that excesses happening with the SC category can be stopped.
