He said that separate directorates of school and college education have been created for quality and competitive education, which is a decisive step.

The Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting at Degree College Una on Monday after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 25.79 crore in Una assembly constituency.
Earlier, he inaugurated the new building constructed at a cost of Rs 8.79 crore in Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) Una and the state-of-the-art academic block constructed at a cost of Rs 12 crore in Government Degree College Una. Also laid the foundation stone of the girls hostel to be built at a cost of Rs 5 crore.
The Chief Minister announced that from the next academic session, Government Senior Secondary (Children) School Una will be made co-educational and CBSE pattern classes will be started here.
The Chief Minister said that in order to make education in government schools inclusive according to the current needs and to make children capable of global competition, education in English medium has been started in the state from the primary level itself. 500 expert teachers are being recruited to make children proficient in English language. Our effort is that children studying in government schools should learn the necessary skills according to the new times and become proficient in English language. Apart from this, 961 recruitments are being done for TGT Arts, Medical and Non-Medical, while 600 recruitments of JBT will also be released soon.
Targeting the previous BJP government, he said that BJP had opened 600 new educational institutions at the time of elections for electoral gains, but teachers were not even deployed in them, due to which resources were misused. The present government is rationalizing these institutions so that the education system can be made practical and strong.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government is setting up Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day-Boarding Schools in every Assembly constituency. A provision of Rs. 200 crore has been made for this this year. Modern facilities like high-tech smart classrooms, playgrounds, indoor stadiums, swimming pools, music rooms are being provided in the schools, which will become a strong base for the all-round development of the students.
Mr. Sukhu said that Rs. 1350 crore is being spent on upgrading medical technology in the State, so that world-class treatment facilities can be made available to the people. All medical colleges including IGMC Shimla, Tanda and Nerchowk are being equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Machines older than 20 years are being replaced in a phased manner. The Government aims to make advanced medical services like robotic surgery easily available to the general public. The State Government has worked to get environmental clearances to speed up the construction of the PGI Satellite Centre under construction in Una.
The Chief Minister said that in the last few years, an unexpected increase has been recorded in the number of cancer patients in Himachal in proportion to the population. In a detailed scientific study, it was revealed that apart from irregular lifestyle and food habits, the quality of drinking water is also an important factor in many causes of diseases. With this in mind, the state government has started the Chief Minister Clean Water Shodhan Yojana, under which a budget provision of Rs 200 crore has been made. The aim of this scheme is to provide clean and pure drinking water to every citizen.
The Chief Minister reiterated the commitment of the state government to deal strictly with the drug and mining mafia. He said that the government will send those involved in the business of chitta behind the bars of the jail. We will not let the future of the youth be spoiled.
Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government is motivating the youth for maximum participation in sports. He informed that the prize money in sports has been increased and now the government is soon going to authorize all school principals to give exemption in attendance to the students participating in national and international sports events.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the government is working with full commitment towards the goal of making Himachal the most prosperous state of the country by the year 2032. While interacting with the students associated with NSUI, the Chief Minister said that he has been associated with the organization since his youth and has reached this position today on the strength of hard work and dedication.
The Chief Minister assured to do a practical analysis of the demand for building an auditorium in the college and take appropriate decision accordingly.
The Chief Minister also rewarded 3 meritorious students of the college who performed excellently in academic and sports fields.
Dr. Meeta Sharma, Principal of Degree College Una, placed various demands of the college before the Chief Minister.
