
The teachers were made aware on the subject of cyber safety
Hoshiarpur - National Commission for Protection of Child Rights and Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights organized a one day workshop at Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School Railway Mandi Hoshiarpur. The topic of this workshop was cyber security. In this workshop organized in collaboration with District Administration and District Education Department, State Commission Chairman Kanwardeep Singh was the keynote speaker while SDM Hoshiarpur Preetinder Singh Bains, District Education Officer Secondary Education Dr. Gurinderjit Kaur, District Education Officer Elementary Education Kamaldeep Kaur, Deputy District Education Officer Secondary Education Dheeraj Vashisht, DCP O Hoshiarpur Harpreet Kaur, CDPO Manju Bala and Charvi Sethi from National Commission were present as special representatives

In this workshop, First District Education Officer Secondary Education Dr. Gurinderjit Kaur formally welcomed the guests. After him, State Commission Chairman Kanwardeep Singh put forth his views. State Commission Chairman Kanwardeep Singh said that the National Commission for Child Rights has published a manual on safety of children in schools, which includes guidelines on cyber security. The manual emphasises the need for schools to formulate cyber safety rules in terms of "do's and don'ts" and provides a step-by-step guide on how and where to report cases of cyberbullying and abuse. He said that if any educational institution forcibly demands donation from students at the time of admission, then a complaint should be made to the Commission. He said that if any school demands money in lieu of school leaving certificate on the demand of a student, then a complaint can also be made to the Commission. He also said that the Commission is the nodal agency for monitoring the transport of all schools.
SDM Hoshiarpur Preetinder Singh Bains said that ensuring the safety of children is the important responsibility of the schools and students should be provided with strong firewalls, password protocols and awareness. During this, DCPO Hoshiarpur Harpreet Kaur, District Education Officer Elementary Education Kamaldeep Kaur, District Education Officer Secondary Education Dr. Gurinderjit Kaur, Krishna Gopal and Sarju Suri also shared their views.
