Mohali - In a press conference in Mohali on Tuesday, the committee members said that the government has not restored the salaries of veterinary doctors. Due to which the salary scale of the newly recruited doctors is being kept very low in the initial period itself. In such a case, these doctors will remain on a lower pay scale than other doctors till the end of their service. Convener of Joint Action Committee Dr. Gurcharan Singh, Dr. Abdul Majeed, Dr. Puneet Malhotra, Dr. Tejinder Singh, Dr. Gurdeep Singh and Dr. Harmandeep Singh said that the government is not only ignoring the orders of the High Court, Rather, the government is excluding veterinary doctors from its salary scale The commission is being bullied, which will be strongly opposed.
Members of the Joint Action Committee said that since the last 40 years, veterinary officers have been paid at par with medical and dental doctors. But it was reduced during the previous Congress government. Apart from this, this mistake has not been rectified even in the current Aam Aadmi Party government. However, the committee members have held repeated meetings with the ministers of the animal husbandry department. But in the end only one assurance is obtained. Apart from this, till date no minister has taken any action to solve this serious problem of veterinary doctors. He said that in this regard, the joint action committee has boycotted many schemes given by the government department. In which veterinary officers are not participating and they are not working. But emergency and OPD services have been retained so that there is no shortage of veterinary services.
The committee members said that if the government still does not solve their problems and their legitimate demands are not accepted, the veterinary doctors may be forced to take to the streets to demand their rights. Farmer groups will also be involved in this. Because veterinarians provide more services to farmers and farmers also stand shoulder to shoulder with veterinarians.
