Cabinet Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government will leave no stone unturned in its resolve to make the state drug-free.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said on this occasion that on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the district administration is continuously making the residents aware of the complete prevention of drug addiction.
SSP Surendra Lamba said that the Hoshiarpur police is committed to the complete eradication of drugs. He said that a special campaign against drugs is being conducted at the police station level in the district and strict action is being taken against drug dealers. He said that the district police conducted 6-day sports competitions to save the youth from drugs Under which sports competitions were conducted at the police station level from village to block level and now football, basketball and kabaddi competitions are being conducted at the district level. He said that trophies, certificates and cash prizes are also being given to the winning teams. Apart from this, certificates will also be given to the participating teams in these competitions. Explaining the action taken by the district police against drugs, he said that in this month of June alone, the district police has registered 68 FIRs and taken action against more than 90 drug traffickers. He said that the cooperation of the people in this campaign is very important for the eradication of drug addiction and he assured the district residents that the name of the person who informs the police about drug dealers will be kept confidential and strict action will be taken against the people involved in this business.
