Chandigarh, July 3 - Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mr. Harvinder Kalyan said that on the holy land where Lord Shri Krishna bestowed the knowledge of Gita and Karma to the entire humanity, the National Conference of Representatives of Urban Local Bodies of the Kings and Union Territories from across the country is being held, not only for the Haryana Vidhan Sabha but also for the entire state. This National Conference will become a guide for urban bodies in spreading the good processes of development adopted by various kings.
Mr. Kalyan was delivering the welcome address at the first National Conference of Urban Local Bodies of the country organized in Manesar on Thursday. 
The Vidhan Sabha Speaker said that this two-day conference is dedicated to urban local bodies, Panchayati Raj institutions, women and youth. The good processes and new ideas that will come to the fore through dialogue and discussion in the conference will be implemented by the public representatives in their respective areas.The experience gained on the soil of Haryana will be disseminated across the country. 
The Assembly Speaker also informed that the proposals passed in the recently organized conference of the Presiding Officers of the Legislative Assemblies of the States held in Patna have been supported by the Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini in his budget speech.
In his welcome address, he said that this conference is being organized today with the same goal of building a strong democracy by bringing together the legislative bodies including Parliament, Legislative Assemblies, Municipal Bodies and Panchayats. 
This initiative will prove beneficial for the coming generations. In the inaugural session of the conference, Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan and Deputy Speaker Dr. Krishan Lal Midda welcomed the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests by presenting them with the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.

Urban bodies are the government that has a direct connection with the people - Vipul Goyal
At the National Conference of Urban Body Presidents, Haryana Government's Urban Body and Revenue Minister Vipul Goyal said that urban local bodies are the first and main link of citizen service and citizen contact. He said that urban bodies are the government that has a direct connection with the people. 
It is not the smallest but the most important and sensitive unit of democracy. He thanked Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Chief Minister Nahib Singh Saini, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan and the public representatives of urban bodies from across the country who arrived at the conference.
