Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 23, 2025: Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) Day was celebrated today in various government health institutions of the district, under which pregnant women were examined free of cost by specialist doctors, they were given information about safe delivery and refreshments were also given.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain said that under this program, free examination of pregnant women, especially high-risk pregnant women, is done on 9th and 23rd of every month.
The main objective of this program is to examine pregnant women in the second and third trimester and identify high-risk pregnant women and provide them proper treatment. The senior health officer appealed to the general public, especially pregnant women, to reach government health institutions and take maximum advantage of the free facilities being provided by the health department. He said that for the safety of pregnant women, no uneducated person should ever be allowed to deliver a child, as doing so can endanger the life of both the woman and the child.
It is noteworthy that every pregnant woman has to undergo four ANC checkups, which are done completely free of cost in government health institutions. Dr. Jain said that the Health Department is smoothly implementing state and central health schemes and programs for the welfare of the people and is committed to providing better maternal and child health services to the people.
