Two Weeks ITEC Intensive Training Program on “Advanced Analytical Techniques: Fundamentals and Applications for Quality Evaluation of Drugs and Pharmaceuticals for Export” from December 11 to December 22, 2023 National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), S.A.S. Nagar is conducting ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) programmes in the field of Pharmaceuticals under India’s foreign policy of Ministry of External Affairs, GOI.

Two Weeks ITEC Intensive Training Program on “Advanced Analytical Techniques: Fundamentals and Applications for Quality Evaluation of Drugs and Pharmaceuticals for Export” from December 11 to December 22, 2023 National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), S.A.S. Nagar is conducting ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) programmes in the field of Pharmaceuticals under India’s foreign policy of Ministry of External Affairs, GOI.

The ITEC programme was instituted by a decision of the Indian Cabinet on 15 September 1964 as a bilateral programme of assistance of the Government of India. The development partnership Administration (DPA) –III was set up in the Ministry of External Affairs in January 2012.

The ITEC Programme is fully funded by the Government of India. Under this programme 161 countries have economic cooperation which includes Asia, Africa, East Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean as well as Pacific and Small Island countries.

NIPER is conducting such training programmes since last 23 years. NIPER SAS Nagar is organizing a two week intensive training programme on “Advanced Analytical Techniques: Basic Principles and Applications for Quality Assessment of Drugs and Pharmaceuticals for Export”, from 11th December to 22nd December, 2023.

There are a total 24 participants from 16 countries i.e. ALGERIA, BANGLADESH, CAMEROON, COSTA RICA, GUATEMALA, HONDURAS, JORDAN, MALDIVES, NIGERIA, NIGER, SYRIA, SRI LANKA, TURKEY, TAJIKISTAN, TANZANIA and VIETNAM with background of Drug Regulatory and Quality Control. The Resource persons from the pharmaceutical industry, academia and regulatory agencies will be delivering lectures in this programme.

Lectures will be held on different sophisticated analytical techniques and hands on training will be given to the participants on different sophisticated analytical instruments. Visit to industry and approved analytical lab will also be the part of this training programme.

Today, the inaugural function was held at Convention Centre, NIPER SAS Nagar.  Prof. A.K. Bansal, Dean, NIPER in his welcome address mentioned that NIPER is conducting such programmes since long to foster the knowledge. He told that the pharmaceutical landscape is expanding at very high speed and we all have to work together.

Prof. IP Singh, Course Coordinator, gave introduction to ITEC Prgramme of GoI and present ITEC course.

Prof Dulal Panda, Director, NIPER-SAS Nagar in his address mentioned that this programme is unique programe started around 59 years ago with idea to skill people particularly from developing countries. He told that for India the whole world is one family. He said this type of programmes will lead to better exchange and help us to understand each other. He further mentioned that all the participants should enjoy the Indian culture and he wished the participants a pleasant stay at NIPER

Dr. Girish Sahni, Chairman, BoG, NIPER SAS Nagar mentioned that lot of us can’t afford costly drugs. Our scientists and industries joined hands to develop medicines at affordable prices and India is now considered as Pharmacy of the world. He told that the participants should discuss about the problems of their countries and let us produce convergence and join hands for continuous evolution.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Wing Cdr (Retd) PJP Singh Waraich, Regisrar, NIPER. He thanked the Ministry of External Affairs for giving NIPER the opportunity and providing the funds for the conducting ITEC Programme. He further thanked Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Dept. of Pharmaceuticals, BOG Chairman Dr. Girish Sahni, Director, NIPER and the committee members and other sections who gave their services for the conduction of such programmes.
