The reason for this is that it is a life-threatening disease and spreads from one patient to another in many ways. According to the data, during the year 2017-18, there were 6,630 HIV positive patients in Punjab, whose number has increased to 12,788 in the year 2022-23. The highest increase has been seen in Barnala district.
