Patiala, December 5 – 1801 lawyers will exercise their voting rights to elect a new bar team in Patiala District Bar Association elections on 15th of this month. This number of lawyers has come out after the audit committee meeting. Nomination papers will be filed by various lawyers on December 6. After this, these papers will be checked and the candidates will be able to withdraw their names till December 8. Apart from 6 key office bearers President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Joint Secretary and Library Incharge, 10 executive members will be elected. In this election, there is a fight between Rakesh Gupta and MS Tiwana factions. Both have announced the names of their key office bearers but the names of the executive members are yet to come out. Among the names of major candidates of Tiwana Group, MS Tiwana himself is contesting for the chairmanship while others include Swi Dev Singh (Sandy Ghuman) Vice President, Jagdish Sharma Secretary, Deepak Jindal Joint Secretary, Gurjit Singh Bawa Treasurer and Manpreet Cheema Library Incharge. are Rakesh Gupta of the other faction is in the fray for the presidency. Other candidates from this faction include Aman Mathur (Vice President), Tegbir Singh Dhillon (Secretary), Harminder Singh Ahluwalia (Joint Secretary), Manpreet Kaur (Treasurer) and Jasdeep Singh Pannu (Library Incharge). The polling will be held on December 15 and the results are likely to be announced late on the same day.
