Awareness seminar organized under the leadership of MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh under the campaign "War Against Drugs"

Kharar/Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, May 22: A special awareness seminar was organized at Government Senior Secondary School, Sakrulapur under the campaign "War Against Drugs" launched by the Punjab Government for the complete eradication of drugs and the students of the school also took out a rally against drugs holding banners and placards in their hands.

Dr. Charanjit Singh MLA Halkaur Sahib said on this occasion that the government led by S. Bhagwant Singh Mann had been fighting against drugs since 2022, but now to take it to the end, the government has started a “war against drugs”. Drugs are a disease of society, which is why the society needs to come together and fight against it. 
Now the time has come that everyone will have to take an oath that I will not do drugs and I will not allow them to be done. The government has zero tolerance against drugs and there is no political pressure on the police now, but there is an instruction to take strictest action against drug dealers.
Motivating the students, he said that drugs should be for studying, reading books, playing sports and becoming something, but should not be drugs that eat away at our body and society. He also told the parents to take care of their children and keep them away from drugs and bad company. 
He said that the Mann government has kept the highest budget of Rs 1800 crore in the education sector. Education and drugs should not be allowed to coexist, which is why the government is trying to build playgrounds in every village. Stadiums have been built in the villages of Chamkaur Sahib constituency and the government has taken initiatives like Sports Watan Punjab.
He said that drug addicts are actually mentally ill, who need to be taken to the hospital for treatment. On this occasion, Gautam Rishi, Block Extension Educator from the Primary Health Center of the Health Department, Gharuan, said that to eradicate drugs, the government has started the "War on Drugs" campaign with strong determination under the leadership of S. Bhagwant Singh Mann. Where OOAT of drug addicts Treatment is being provided by giving free medicines and counselling in the clinics, while vocational courses are also being conducted free of cost in the De-Addiction Centre in Sector 66, Mohali for their rehabilitation. 
With this, the youth will come out of the swamp of drugs, become self-reliant and become a part of the mainstream of the society. Gautam Rishi motivated the panchayat representatives and said that the panchayats should take the initiative to monitor their villages themselves and declare their villages as "drug-free villages" by passing regular resolutions.
SHO Gharuan Balwinder Singh said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the entire Punjab government have made it clear that now drug mafia or smugglers will not be spared on the land of Punjab. Where drug dens used to get political patronage earlier, today bulldozers are running there. 
The government's message is very clear - "Either give up drugs, or leave Punjab." He said that if someone sells drugs in your village or someone from outside comes to sell drugs in the village, then tell us, we will take immediate action. You do not need to be afraid of smugglers. Your information will be kept completely confidential.
Senior Vice President of Nagar Panchayat Harpreet Singh Bhandari praised this campaign of the government and said that the administration will cooperate in every way.
On this occasion, school students Sehjot Kaur, Jasmine Kaur, Manpreet Singh, Ravneet Kaur, Prabhjot Kaur, Sehjot Kaur created awareness against drugs through songs, poems and speeches.
