Hoshiarpur- A major action was carried out under the campaign being run by Hoshiarpur Police against drugs. During a special raid conducted by the police team, a drug smuggler suddenly started firing on the police. In retaliation, the police also fired, due to which the smuggler got shot in the leg. He was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment.
This information was given by SP (D) Dr. Mukesh Kumar during a special press conference held at Hoshiarpur Police Line today. He said that the police had received concrete information about the activities of the drug smuggler, on the basis of which a special team was formed and a raid was conducted.
During the raid, as soon as the police team tried to catch the smuggler, he suddenly opened fire. To control the situation, the police first fired in the air, but when the firing from the smuggler's side continued, the police had to retaliate. In this action, the smuggler got shot in the leg and he was injured.
Dr. Mukesh Kumar said that the identity of the smuggler has not been made public at the moment. Drugs have been recovered from him and he will be questioned after he recovers. He also said that the police is fully committed to reach the roots of drug smuggling and strict legal action will be taken.
During the press conference, the SP also discussed in detail the law and order situation in the district and the efforts being made by the police to maintain peace.
