Hoshiarpur- Eye donation is the best gift of creation, this idea was expressed by former Civil Surgeon Dr. Kaushal Singh Saini today during a special meeting with Eye Donation Incharge State Awardee Bhai Barinder Singh Masiti. On this occasion, while motivating people to donate their eyes, he said that every person must donate their eyes after death, which is also the need of the present time.
He said that eyes are also a priceless treasure given to man by God, which is offered by dedicating it to fire. He said that with these two eyes, any two blind persons can be made able to see.
While telling people about the process of eye donation, he said that you must have heard people talking about 'eye donation', but never the whole eyes are transplanted. Eye donation involves only your cornea, not your entire eye. Through corneal transplantation, a healthy cornea obtained from the donor is used to replace the damaged cornea.
At this time he told that the eyes of a person who died due to HIV (AIDS), active viral hepatitis, brain inflammation, eye cancer, septicemia, cancer cannot be donated.
On this occasion, Bhai Masiti told that after the death of the eye donor, immediately turn off the fan / air conditioner to prevent the eyes from drying, keep the donor's eyelids closed and keep a towel on the eyes. Keep a pillow under the donor's head so that his head can be slightly elevated. Immediately inform the eye donation organization or eye bank because the eyes of the deceased person can be taken within four to six hours of death.
