Nawanshahr- Under the 'War Against Drug Abuse' campaign being run by the Punjab government to make people aware about the ill effects of drug abuse, the district administration Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar is organizing a grand marathon on Friday, May 2. This information was given by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Rajeev Verma during a meeting with officials to review the preparations for this marathon.

This information was given by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Rajeev Verma during a meeting with officials to review the preparations for this marathon.
He said that in this marathon being organized from ITI Ground Nawanshahr under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, well-known personalities of the district, officers, employees, students, teachers, players, village Panch-Sarpanch, Youth Club members, volunteers and district residents will participate in large numbers and play a leading role in the fight against drug abuse and will also perform their duty to make people aware about the ill effects of drug abuse. During this, he urged the officials of various departments to perform their duties with full devotion, so that this marathon can be completed successfully.
He said that the main objective of this marathon is to make the youth aware about the ill effects of drugs as well as to increase the participation of society in the war against drugs. He said that this marathon will start from ITI Ground Nawanshahr at 6.30 am and will end at ITI Ground via Raja Hospital, Baradari Bagh, Government Rehabilitation Center and Baba Saheb Dr. BR Ambedkar Chowk.
He appealed to the district residents to reach ITI Ground in large numbers on Friday at 6.30 am to be a part of this marathon and make their valuable contribution in the efforts being made by the district administration to make the district drug free. He said that this marathon was earlier scheduled to be held on April 25, but it was postponed due to unavoidable reasons.
