Training on Double Seed Maize Seed Production organised at PAU-KVK, Hoshiarpur

Hoshiarpur- Maize Section, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana recently organised a training on Double Seed Maize Seed Production at PAU-KVK, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur. 28 progressive farmers from different villages of Hoshiarpur district participated in this training.

Hoshiarpur- Maize Section, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana recently organised a training on Double Seed Maize Seed Production at PAU-KVK, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur. 28 progressive farmers from different villages of Hoshiarpur district participated in this training.
At the beginning of the programme, Dr. Maninder Singh Bains, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur welcomed the visiting experts and farmers and explained the objective of the training. He also highlighted the farmer welfare activities of Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
Dr. Surinder Kaur Sandhu, Head Maize Breeder and Incharge, Maize Section, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana shared her views with the farmers on the prospects, current status, difficulties and challenges of maize cultivation.
On this occasion, experts from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Dr. Gagandeep Singh, Maize Breeder, Dr. Tarwinder Pal Singh, Senior Crop Breeder, Dr. Mahesh Kumar, Principal Crop Scientist, Dr. Jwala Jindal, Principal Entomologist and Dr. Harleen Kaur, Principal Plant Pathologist shared detailed technical information on various topics - production of double seeded maize, processing, grading and seed preservation, latest production technology for maize cultivation and comprehensive control of maize pests and diseases.
During the training, farmers freely discussed their concerns with the experts and agricultural literature was also made available to the farmers. In the end, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur thanked the experts and farmers who attended the training.
