Kapurthala- Annual prize distribution ceremony of Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia Government College Kapurthala was organized. This annual prize distribution ceremony was organized under the leadership of college principal Dr. Jatinderpal Singh cum Deputy Director Higher Education Department Punjab. Representing the Punjab Government, member of Punjab State Council for Science and Technology Department Chandigarh and international poet Kanwar Iqbal Singh attended as the chief guest.
While Prof. Kulwant Singh Aujla, who retired from this college, attended as the special guest. College Principal Dr. Jatinderpal Singh and Vice Principal Dr. Monica Khanna warmly welcomed the chief guest and special guest including multi-talented Surinder Singh Sunnar by presenting bouquets. The program started after the chief guest and other dignitaries lit the lamp.
During the prize distribution ceremony, the college principal read out the report of the annual activities of the college and gave detailed information about the contribution made by the chief guest Kanwar Iqbal Singh ji in the field including literary, cultural, social and political journey in the last several years. He also informed the guests present in the program about the achievements made by the students in the field of sports along with education.
On this occasion, while the chief guest poet Kanwar Iqbal Singh and Prof. Kulwant Singh Aujla, along with the college staff and the principal, honored 225 students of the college by giving them prizes, mementos were presented to the chief guest and special guest on behalf of the college. During this, college registrar Prof. Sneh Sharma was also present. Earlier, Saraswati Vandana was performed by the students of the music department and folk songs were also presented during the program. The stage was conducted by Prof. Happy Kumar.
During his address, the chief guest poet Kanwar Iqbal Singh inspired the students to keep moving forward in the field of literature, culture and sports along with education. He said that we should accept the challenges that come in the future and face them. While addressing the students of the college in the program, he presented his song 'Kukh me na mwa maar maan....baataranum' sung in the voice of Sufi singer Pammi Hanspal.
