Una, 22 February- Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal distributed battery operated tricycles to 40 eligible Divyangjans of the district in a program organized at Prem Ashram Una on Saturday. These tricycles worth about Rs 23.20 lakh have been made available under the joint aegis of District Red Cross Society Una, Indian Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation and Power Finance Corporation Limited.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that these beneficiaries were earlier selected in the disability assessment camps organized in all the sub-divisions of the district through Indian Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation and Red Cross Society. He said that the district administration is committed to the upliftment and encouragement of Divyangjans. These tricycles will help in fulfilling the daily needs of the Divyangjans in a better way. The Deputy Commissioner urged that all the Divyangjans should participate enthusiastically in the disability assessment camps to be organized in future so that assistive devices can be provided as per the disability assessment. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that our aim is to connect the disabled people with the mainstream of the society and promote their self-reliance.
Beneficiaries Vyasa Devi, Vinay Kumar, Nardev Singh and Dharmendra Singh thanked the Deputy Commissioner for providing tricycles. They said that these devices will bring positive change in their lives which will make it easier for them to commute and complete their daily activities and will help them lead a happy life.
On this occasion, Nagar Parishad President Pushpa Devi, Kanika from ELIMCO, Ashok Kumar, CPO Sanjay Sankhyan, Sanyasi Sant Netra Giri Maharaj, Praveen Kumari and others were present.
