Hoshiarpur- The rapid destruction of the strip forest around the roads is destabilizing the ecological balance, and in view of global warming, great attention needs to be paid. Labor Party President Jai Gopal Dhiman and Vice President Sonu Mehatpur immediately brought the matter of large number of eucalyptus trees being illegally cut near the Nangal Shaheed Toll Plaza to the attention of the department.
And till date, they have not taken any strict action against the fellers, even though according to them, the goods are in their possession. Dhiman said why the guards of the department are not taking notice of all this. He said that where trees are to be planted, there are illegal encroachments in many places and fences are put on the trees so that no one can plant flax and all this is a violation of the Forest Act. But these guards turn a blind eye. Dhiman said that all the officers of the Forest Department are responsible for the destruction of the strip forest around the roads and the illegal use of trees. Deforestation also happens with the connivance of the officers. Not only this, where trees are to be planted, there are piles of garbage and cow dung and the officers do not even take any action. At many places, illegal and unethical work is going on in the places of the Forest Department with their connivance.
Dhiman said that although the number of trees is decreasing due to departmental negligence and people's selfishness, this decreasing number is taking the country towards the destruction of the natural balance. He said that in the evening, long lines of people planted on trees and on liquor shops can be seen. The question arises whether the department officials can waste fuel by driving vehicles around.
According to the rules, it is the duty of the disabled to know their duties and guard them. If the forest department itself commits negligence, then global warming will happen. This department gets crores of rupees for the maintenance of forests and trees, but nothing is being done.
The roots of this department are getting hollow. If the government does not improve the work culture in this department, then a lot of destruction will be seen in the future. Otherwise, the condition of Hoshiarpur district will also be like Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Delhi where health has taken a destructive form. Dhiman appealed to the residents of Hoshiarpur to come forward to save trees for their future.
