
DC visits District De-Drug and Rehabilitation Center
S.A.S.Nagar, March 21: Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal paid a surprise visit to the Government De-Drug and Rehabilitation Center in Sector 66 this morning and reviewed the health facilities and arrangements being provided there. He inspected various wards of the center and also interacted with the patients admitted in the center.

He inspected various wards of the center and also interacted with the patients admitted in the center.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the health officials to ensure maximum physical activity of the patients so that they can get rid of drugs. He ordered to complete the shortcomings found during the checking of the center as soon as possible.
During this, he also asked to prepare a room in the center for the patients to pray, where they can sit and meditate. Apart from this, he also asked to start yoga practice for the patients and to provide training in gardening to keep the youth away from drugs so that they can become self-employed in the future after coming out of the center.
The Deputy Commissioner asked Civil Surgeon Sangeeta Jain to deploy more staff to meet the shortage of staff. He told the staff that drug patients should be treated with love and compassion and if any patient reacts strongly to something at any time, he should be handled with love and humility. He said that the only objective of the district administration and the health department is to completely cure the drug and mental illness patients in the center and send them back home.
The Deputy Commissioner, while interacting with the patients admitted in the centre, said that the government is providing them with a very good environment, where they are being provided with absolutely free accommodation, food and treatment facilities.
He asked the patients to get their treatment done properly and return home soon after recovery.
The Deputy Commissioner, while approving the increase in the cost of food provided in the drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centres, said that a roster register should be prepared for providing nutritious food at the District Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, Sector 66, Mohali. He asked them to take proper care of the patients and fix a time for the patients to meet their families.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sonam Chaudhary, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Parvinder Pal Kaur, Secretary Red Cross Harbans Singh and other departmental officers were also present on the occasion.
