New Delhi, July 3 - The Delhi government has written to the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) saying that ban on refuelling expired vehicles is not possible due to technical challenges and complex systems. Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that this move has caused frustration among the people and the government agrees with their problem.
The government has suggested that this ban should be implemented in the entire National Capital Region (NCR). He slammed the previous AAP government for prescribing a complicated process for older vehicles. The Delhi government has banned petrol and diesel from supplying these vehicles from July 1.
The government has banned models of 10 years or more for diesel vehicles and 15 years or more for petrol vehicles. The transport department and traffic police are seizing vehicles coming to the pumps to get petrol in these vehicles.
Due to this, there is resentment among the people against the government and they have demanded the lifting of such restrictions, citing economic problems.
