Chandigarh, February 5, 2025- The Department of Information Technology of University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh organised a one day workshop on “Virtual Labs” conducted by IIT Delhi in Hybrid Mode, an Initiative of Ministry of Education under the National Mission of Education through ICT. The expert team from IIT Delhi included Mr. Chandan Kumar (Outreach Incharge), Mr. Shivam Yadav (Senior Field Engineer).
The workshop was attended by 240 participants including faculty members, research scholars and students from UIET, Chandigarh.
The workshop began with an introduction to Virtual Labs. The IIT Virtual Labs project, led by IIT Delhi and supported by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, revolutionises ICT-based education through remote experimentation. These labs are accessible via the internet, offer simulations-based experiments without requiring additional infrastructure, fostering innovation and collaboration in education. With over 100 Virtual Labs and 700+ web-enabled experiments, it provides access to quality laboratory facilities for students and faculty in science and engineering colleges, as well as high school students and researchers.
Thereafter, practical hands-on were conducted. During the session, the experts from IIT demonstrated to the participant how to access the Virtual Labs of different streams. Participants were given different experiments based on their domains to perform.
The event was held under the mentorship of Prof. Sanjeev Puri, Director, UIET and Dr. Amandeep Verma, Coordinator, Department of IT, UIET Chandigarh. Dr. Neelam Goel, Assistant Professor, UIET, Panjab University was the Coordinator of the workshop.
