Una, 25 April:- Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena stressed on making an effective plan and implementing it accurately to increase the voting percentage in the Lok Sabha elections and 2 assembly by-elections in Una district. The Chief Secretary was reviewing the election preparations in the district in a meeting with officials in Una district on Thursday. He asked to focus more on awareness activities to encourage voters for active participation in elections. He underlined the importance of using various mediums including print, electronic and social media in mass awareness along with sweep programmes. Being a border district, he instructed the surveillance teams to work with more vigilance and vigilance. Asked to keep a close watch on every suspicious activity, set up checkpoints as well as carry out surprise inspection and checking campaigns in proper coordination. He also asked to ensure that the checking campaign does not cause unnecessary trouble to the general public.
The Chief Secretary asked the officials to ensure that the guidelines of the Election Commission are followed in letter and spirit. He took detailed information on every aspect related to election management including security management in the district, voter facilities at polling stations, rehearsal of election personnel and provided necessary guidance.
He asked to organize awareness programs to promote the use of C-VIGIL app among the voters.
During this, District Election Officer Jatin Lal told the Chief Secretary through PPT that 516 polling stations have been created in the district in view of the elections. He said that so far 4 lakh 28 thousand 589 voters are registered in the district. These include 2 lakh 11 thousand 684 female voters, 2 lakh 16 thousand 901 male voters and 4 third gender voters. Jatin Lal said that webcasting will be done at 377 polling stations in district 516. He said that all necessary arrangements have been made for the Lok Sabha by-elections to be held in Una district and the assembly by-elections in Gagret and Kutlehar.
