Regional Rural Development Organization and Panchayati Raj Mohali completes seventh training program at Mahilpur block for newly elected Sarpanches and Panches

Garhshankar- Under the guidelines of Regional Rural Development Organization and Panchayati Raj Mohali, a schedule of 13 camps has been prepared to train the newly elected representatives of 149 Gram Panchayats of Mahilpur block; a three-day training program for Gram Panchayats is being conducted under the training program. Today, during the seventh camp, Sarpanch and Panch Sahabans of 11 Panchayats of Mahilpur block Khera, Kharodi, Khairal Rawal Bassi, Bhana, Maksuspur, Paldi, Khushalpur, Nangal Kalan, Panchnangal, Lakshya, Dandia participated.

In this training program, Master Resource Person Rajni Garg and Rajni Kaur from Provincial Rural Development Organization and Panchayati Raj Mohali provided complete information to the Sarpanch and Panch Sahabans about the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, Panchayati Raj Act 1994, structure of Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat, quorum, meetings, functions and powers of Sarpanch, powers of Panchayat, annual budget reports, sources of income, 15th Finance Commission (tied and untied funds), development grants, 17 sustainable development goals, 9 themes, thematic Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), lands covered by Panchayat, release of illegal encroachments under Village Common Land Act 1961 and the role of Panchayat Secretary, Video, Panchayat Officer and other employees.
Apart from this, in this training program, the officers and employees of the departments related to Panchayats such as Social Security and Women and Child Development Department, Women and Child Laws, Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Punjab Livelihood Mission Department, Education Department, Health Department also informed the Sarpanch and Panch Sahabans about the departmental schemes.
Shri Sukhjinder Singh BDPO Mahilpur encouraged the newly elected Sarpanch and Panch to actively play their role in Panchayat work. So that by improving the working system of Panchayats, the status of the villages can be raised and the overall development of the villages can be done.
