Chandigarh - Punjab Power and Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh Eto today addressed a two-day International Conference on “Gandhi and Ambedkar’s Philosophy: Inclusion, Equality and Dignity” at the Punjab University here, stressing the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for addressing contemporary social issues.

Chandigarh - Punjab Power and Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh Eto today addressed a two-day International Conference on “Gandhi and Ambedkar’s Philosophy: Inclusion, Equality and Dignity” at the Punjab University here, stressing the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for addressing contemporary social issues.

Addressing the inaugural session of the Conference as the Chief Guest, Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh Eto highlighted the different approaches of Gandhi and Ambedkar towards justice, equality and dignity.

He said Mahatma Gandhi advocated moral transformation and gradual change while Dr. Ambedkar emphasized on structural reforms and legal framework. The Cabinet Minister emphasized that understanding these philosophies is important for addressing caste, class and social inequalities in India. He stressed the importance of promoting mutual understanding among different communities and accepting each other’s views as well as maintaining constitutional safeguards for marginalized communities.

Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the conference provided a platform to discuss the relevance of the philosophy of Gandhi and Ambedkar in today's society. He said that such events provide a platform for experts, researchers and scholars to explore ways to create a more just and inclusive society. Concluding his speech, he said that by adopting the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Ambedkar, we can build a future where inclusion, equality and dignity are not just ideals but a living reality for all.
This two-day international conference is being organized by the Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, Punjab University in collaboration with the Department of Political Science, Center for Distance and Online Education, Department of Human Rights and Value Education of DAV College for Girls Yamuna Nagar and International Ambedkarites Network. Professor Raunki Ram, Professor Harsh Gandhar, Professor E Nahar, Dr. Ashu Pasricha, Professor KC Agnihotri, Professor Namita Gupta and students were present on this occasion.
