Chandigarh, September 9, 2024:- General (Retd.) V. P. Malik (PVSM, AVSM), former Army Chief and leader of the Kargil War, pledged to donate his organs during an awareness camp at PGIMER Chandigarh. The event, organized by ROTTO North, marked the culmination of "World Physiotherapy Month" 2024 and coincided with a blood donation drive under Mission "Jeevan Rekha," commemorating the silver jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
Chandigarh, September 9, 2024:- General (Retd.) V. P. Malik (PVSM, AVSM), former Army Chief and leader of the Kargil War, pledged to donate his organs during an awareness camp at PGIMER Chandigarh. The event, organized by ROTTO North, marked the culmination of "World Physiotherapy Month" 2024 and coincided with a blood donation drive under Mission "Jeevan Rekha," commemorating the silver jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas. As the chief guest, General Malik emphasized organ donation as an extension of his lifelong service to the nation, urging others to join this life-saving cause. "Pledging my organs allows me to serve even after life. I urge all citizens to consider this act of kindness and compassion," he stated. The event, held in collaboration with Navya Bharat Foundation (NBF), Student Association of Physical Therapy (SAPT), and Khel Bharti Chandigarh, saw enthusiastic public participation. Esteemed doctors and staff from PGIMER, including Prof. Suchet Sachdev, Prof. Harikrishan, and Prof. Himanshu Bhayana, were in attendance, making it a resounding success in promoting organ donation. The event was a grand success, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting organ donation and encouraging citizens to contribute to this life-saving cause.
