Gurmati College held a condolence meeting in memory of "Padma Shri" Surjit Patar

Patiala, May 11 - A condolence meeting was held by Gurmati College Patiala on the demise of renowned poet "Padma Shri" Surjit Patar. Pratap Singh, director of Guru Nanak Foundation, New Delhi, expressed grief over the phone and said that the passing away of the Sikh poet is an irreparable loss. Scholars and writers of Punjabi language will always remember Surjit Patar's contribution to Punjabi language literature and culture.

Many of his poems had a deep impact on people's minds. On this occasion, Dr. Aspreet Kaur, Dr. Harjit Singh, Madam Prabhjot Kaur, S. Kuldeep Singh, Prof. Jasbir Singh Dera Baba Jassa Singh Management Committee members also expressed their regret over Surjit Patar's death. Principal of Gurmati College Dr. Jasveer Kaur said that Surjit Patar served the Punjabi mother tongue, music and culture immensely and by singing his poems he used to reach the depths of the reader. Prof. Surjeet Patar will always be remembered for his academic work.
