High Court extends Asaram's interim bail till July 7.

Ahmedabad, June 27- The Gujarat High Court on Friday extended the interim bail granted to self-proclaimed saint Asaram in a 2013 rape case till July 7. He is serving a life sentence in the case. A division bench of Justices Ilesh Vora and Sandeep Bhatt extended the interim bail granted to him for three months on March 28 while hearing the application.

A division bench of Justices Ilesh Vora and Sandeep Bhatt extended the interim bail granted to him for three months on March 28 while hearing the application.
86-year-old Asaram is on bail on medical grounds. The extension in bail has been made so that his lawyer can submit necessary documents in his application and the next hearing of the case has been fixed for July 2. However, the interim bail granted on March 28 is scheduled to expire on June 30.
In January 2023, a court in Gandhinagar had sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment in a rape case. Asaram is also serving a life sentence in another case of rape of a minor girl at his ashram in Rajasthan in 2013.
